“Sarah.” someone whispered while I slept. I woke suddenly to the sound of my name. It was dark out. I was guessing early morning and a glance at my clock, which read to be a little past three in the morning confirmed it. I could see a face in the darkness, I wasn’t scared though. I recognized who it was immediately. It was my older brother, Victor. I was expecting him, ‘cause he was there for me. After our parents died Victor promised he would get us out of the social service’s hands. He knew he had to do it more for me because I was younger. He being seventeen, eighteen in a few months would be on his own soon. But m
